Travel Information

Hong Kong is internationally famous for its safe, affordable and reliable public transport system that keeps the city moving at its trademark lightning speed. If lightning is too fast, you can switch gears by hopping on an unhurried tram or ferry and savour the city at an old-world pace.

Getting Around

From the Airport Express to the Peak Tram, getting around Hong Kong is not only easy, it’s an attraction in itself!

Getting To CityU

Situated right at the heart of Kowloon peninsula, CityU campus is well connected to major transportation in Hong Kong. It is an easy, quick trip to CityU from almost every part of the city, especially when travelling by the Mass Transit Railway (MTR), as the University is just a 10-minute walk from Kowloon Tong Station.

From Kowloon Tong station to City University of Hong Kong:

  1. Find Exit C to Festival Walk then take Exit C1.
  2. Cross Tat Chee Avenue to the Jockey Club Environmental Building.
  3. Turn right and cross To Yuen Street to CityU’s Academic Exchange Building.
  4. Go straight up along Tat Chee Avenue and take the stairs on the left hand side down to the campus.
  5. Getting to CityU – By Mass Transit Railway.

From Hong Kong International Airport to CityU

By MTR

You can ride the MTR from Airport Station to CityU. The interchange lines are as follows:

  • Take the Airport Express from Airport Station and alight at Tsing Yi Station
  • Change at Tsing Yi Station to the Tung Chung Line and alight at Lai King Station
  • Change at Lai King Station to the Tsuen Wan Line and alight at Prince Edward Station
  • Change at Prince Edward Station to the Kwun Tong Line and alight at Kowloon Tong Station
  • CityU is 10 minutes away from Kowloon Tong Station on foot

By Bus

Take route E22 (do not take A22, E22A or E22P) at the Airport bus terminus and get off at Shek Kip Mei Park Station on Cornwall Street in Kowloon Tong. The Student Residence at Cornwall Street is right beside the bus stop, and the main campus is within walking distance (10 to 15 minutes). The Citybus website has current information about bus routes and fares.

By Taxi

If you travel to CityU from the Airport by taxi, the fare is around HK$300. Extra fees will be charged for each piece of luggage and if there are toll charges for crossing bridges and tunnels.

From Hung Hom Railway Station to CityU

If you take the through train that goes directly to Hong Kong from Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou, you will alight at Hung Hom Station. From there you may take the MTR East Rail Line and get off at Kowloon Tong Station to get to CityU. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Hung Hom to get to the campus. The fare is around HK$70 (excluding surcharge for luggage).

If you enter Hong Kong by way of Shenzhen, you can take the MTR East Rail Line from Lo Wu, or Lok Ma Chau via Futian Port and get off at Kowloon Tong Station.

From Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to CityU

By MTR

  • Walk from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Austin Station
  • Take the West Rail Line at Austin Station and alight at Hung Hom Station
  • Change at Hung Hom Station to the East Rail Line and alight at Kowloon Tong Station
  • CityU is 10 minutes away from Kowloon Tong Station on foot

  • If you travel to CityU from the Hong Kong West Kowloon Station by taxi, the fare will be less than HK$100
